Dennis Laird Obituary

Dennis M. Laird, 74, of Moline, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at his home. Services for Mr. Laird will be 10 am, Thursday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 3 pm to 7 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, where military honors will be conducted. Memorials may be made to the family to benefit veterans charities of their choice.

Dennis was born on August 17, 1949, in Rock Island, a son of Dale C. Laird Jr. and Arietta A. (Holmes) Laird. He married Jeanette York on April 29, 1972, in Rock Island. Dennis worked at International Harvester Farmall Works, Rock Island for several years. Later he worked for Wilson’s Moving Company, Davenport. Mr. Laird was a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America, Quad Cities Chapter No. 669, Milan American Legion Post No. 569, MAVA, Americal Division Veterans Association. Dennis loved dirt car racing, drag racing, and visiting with his friends and family.  

Mr. Laird was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran serving with the 23rd Infantry Division.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanette; children, Tabitha Laird, Moline and Dennis M. (Stacey) Laird II, Milan; grandchildren, Carly Ater-Laird, Devin Laird, Kaitlin Warner, and Chase Laird; great grandchildren, Bryant and Kyler; brothers, Kirk Laird, Rock Island, and David (Eileen) Laird, Milan.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Crystal Seabolt.
