Dennis D. Root

               Dennis D. Root, 75, of Reynolds, passed away Sunday, April 25, 2021 at his residence.

                A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, April 30, 2021 at Reynolds United Methodist Church, Reynolds.  A visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.  Burial will be at Reynolds Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the family. 

                Dennis was born on June 16, 1945 in Exira, IA, the son of Lloyd “Bud” and Dorothy (Hines) Root.  He married Marie Walline in 1966 and later separated.  Dennis married Amy Davis on July 18, 1987 in Cambridge, IL.  Dennis served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.  He worked for Farmall until their closing and then transferred to Navistar in Springfield, OH until his retirement in 1995.  After retirement Dennis and Amy moved back to Reynolds, and he worked part time at Farm and Fleet, Honda, and O’Reilly Auto Parts.  Dennis loved mowing the yard and playing Scrabble with his mother-in-law, Pat. 

                Dennis is survived by his wife, Amy Root, Reynolds; children, Brian (Cindy) Root, Naperville, IL, Kevin Root, Fountain Inn, SC, and Ashley (Derek) Reed, Illinois City; grandchildren, Ezra, Ethan, and Evan Root and Simmi Sue Reed; mother-in-law, Pat Englund; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gary, Ronald, and infant brother, David Root; and father-in-law, Errol Davis.
