Donna Miller Obituary

Donna Kay Miller, 71, of Milan, passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2021 surrounded by family. A live-streamed memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, August 8, 2021, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan, and can be viewed online at https://www.wheelanpressly.com/milan-live-stream. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow in Coal Valley Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Quad City Animal Welfare Center.

Donna was born on November 25, 1949 in Rock Island, a daughter of Roy J. and Maxine B. (Chockley) Green. She married Thomas L. Miller on June 4, 1972 at Lincoln Park in Rock Island. Donna received her bachelor’s degree from Marycrest University and worked as a Head Start family social worker for 20 years for Rock Island-Milan School District #41, retiring in 2016. Donna was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church in Rock Island and the Mississippi Valley Quilters Guild. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. Donna also enjoyed arts & crafts, sewing and quilt making.

Those left to cherish Donna’s memory include her daughters, Serena Thurman, Rock Island, and Carrie Miller, Milan; husband, Thomas Miller; grandchildren, Shawn (Ashley), Kayla (Tyler), Sarah, and Aspen; great grandchildren, Ethan, Lucas, and Laikyn; sister, Mary Ellen (Ned) Nice; several extended family members; and many cherished friends.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Donald Green and Dennis Green.
