Doris Carpentier Obituary

Doris J. Carpentier, 91, of Rock Island, passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf. Services for Mrs. Carpentier will be 1 pm, Friday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Private burial will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.

Doris was born on December 7, 1931, in Moline, a daughter of Ernest and Lillian (Ploog) Gordon. She married Robert R. Carpentier on February 20, 1954, in Rock Island. He preceded her in death on November 23, 2014. Doris was a homemaker. She attended St. Pius X Catholic Church. Doris was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Rock Island Family Campers, and the Rock Island High School 50’s Club. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, golfing, and spending winters in Florida with her husband. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.

Survivors include her daughters and their spouses, Andrea and Tim Dewaele, Moline and Rhonda and Kevin Johnson, Rock Island; grandchildren and their spouses, Kevin and Casey Johnson, and Carissa and Zach Hurt; siblings, Marilyn Nichols, and Delbert Gordon.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a stepbrother, Charles Webb.
