Dr. JoAnn Catherine (Hickey) Milani

Dr. JoAnn Catherine (Hickey) Milani, 91, of Rock Island, passed on Wednesday, November 8, 2023.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm Friday, November 17, 2023 at the Knox Chapel of Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 2106 7th Ave, Rock Island, with visitation prior from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Entombment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Moline. Memorials may be made to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.

JoAnn was born in Evanston, IL on May 15, 1932. She graduated from Mundelein College in 1954. She married Italo Milani on September 1, 1956, and moved to the Quad Cities in 1958.

She attended University of Iowa, graduated in 1970 and began her career as a school psychologist for the Area Education Agency until her retirement in 1998. In 1984 she opened a private practice in Davenport and also taught at St. Ambrose. She returned to University of Iowa and received her Ph.D. in Psychology in 1988. In 2017 she completed a Masters Degree in Clinical Pharmacology.

In 2006, JoAnn opened a DUI/OWI service in Rock Island and worked there until it closed in 2022.

Dr. Milani enjoyed entertaining, designing table settings and being with friends. She also enjoyed attending conferences to enhance her skills as a psychologist. She loved traveling and made many friends around the world.

JoAnn recently moved to Overlook Village where she enjoyed making new friends and discovering a love for Bingo and book-club.

JoAnn is survived by 4 children, Dino (Ellen), Franco (Sherri), Carlo (Brenda) and Gina (Clay); 4 grandchildren, Samantha (Adam), Ali, Bella and Mitch; beloved sister, Marge Munster; sister-in-law, Loretta Seabrook; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Italo and son, Marco.
