Elaine A. Oak

Elaine A. Oak, 87, of Reynolds, died Sunday, May 7, 2023 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Reynolds. Visitation will be from 9:00 am to 11:00 am on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Reynolds Volunteer Fire Department, Orion Christian Church, or Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.

Elaine was born on June 20, 1935 in Chicago, IL, a daughter of Clarence and Audrey (Benkendorf) Nielsen. She married Wendell A. Oak on December 13,1953 in Rock Island and he preceded her in death on August 19, 2014. While Wendell was in the Army, Elaine worked as a secretary for the government and then later worked at the Arsenal after they returned to the Quad Cities. She also worked at Royal Neighbors, sold Tara Jewelry, and taught ceramics at Doll-lain in Milan. Elaine then stayed home to raise their three children, while helping Wendell run their business, Oak Plumbing and Pump Company in Reynolds.

Elaine was a member of Orion Christian Church. Elaine’s hobbies included camping, card making, and porcelain doll making.

Those left to cherish Elaine’s memory include her children, Scott (Rebecca) Oak, Aledo, Stephen (Sherry) Oak, Taylor Ridge, and Sandra Oak-Venable (Frank Venable), Reynolds; grandchildren, Benjamin (fiancée, Rachel) Oak, Andrew (Sylwia) Oak, Cody Oak, Jonathon (Samantha) Oak, Stephani (Travis) Norris and Chelsy (Nate) Cady; great-grandchildren, Audriana, Isabella, Izaiah, Elijah, Olivia, Khloe, Trevor, Brailey, Kinleigh, and Chasen; siblings, Fred Fink, Evan Nielsen, Jackie Rial, Carol Satriano, and Bernice Raby; and special friend, Lavonne Wait.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents, Clarence and Celestine Nielsen and Ed and Audrey Wozniak; and sisters, Linda and Lois.
