Elbert Myers Obituary

Elbert W. Myers, 78, of Rock Island, passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at UnityPoint Health-Trinity, Rock Island. Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and services will be private. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island is assisting the family with arrangements. Inurnment will be at a later date. Memorials may be made in care of the Quad City Animal Welfare Center in Milan.

Elbert was born September 24, 1944, in Panama City, Florida, a son of Otis and Willodeen (Estes) Myers. Elbert proudly served in the U.S. Navy and married Sherrie Barth on May 28, 1965, in Rock Island. He retired from John Deere Foundry in East Moline in 1993. Elbert was an avid fisherman. He loved all animals and enjoyed feeding birds and squirrels. Elbert also enjoyed gardening, tinkering around the garage, playing pool, playing guitar, and singing with his family and friends. Above all, Elbert loved his family and dogs more than anything.

Those left to cherish Elbert’s memory include his wife of 58 years, Sherrie; children, Elbert (Rhonda) Myers, Bettendorf, Jerry (Michelle) Myers, Moline, Molly (Dave) Lemaster, Rock Island, and Danielle (Brett) Vacek, Rock Island; dog, Molly May; 9 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Adina, Michael, Richard, Brenda, Ronald, and Lorrie.

Elbert was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Peggy, Judy, and Linda Sue; and dogs, Jerzie, Kaydee, and many more lucky dogs.
