Eleanor “Elly” A. Allison, 81, of Rock Island, died Monday, February 1, 2021 at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island. Cremation rites were accorded. A memorial service will be private in-person, however, may be viewed via live-stream at 9:30 am Saturday, February 6, 2021 by visiting www.wheelanpressly.com/live-stream. A public memorial visitation will take place from 4-7 pm Friday, February 5, 2021 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Avenue, Rock Island. Face masks and social distancing will be required. An additional celebration of life gathering will be announced for Elly’s birthday in July. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in care of the Allison family who plan on establishing an annual scholarship for Rock Island Athletes.
Elly was born in Kansas City, Mo. on July 21, 1939, a daughter of John A. and Ruth E. Sheldon Kish. She graduated from Rock Island High School in 1957. Elly married Richard L. Allison on May 5, 1960 at Memorial Christian Church, Rock Island.
Elly was a busy homemaker and spent her time raising her children. Everyone she came across loved her. She will be remembered by her sparkling personality. Elly was very blessed to have her husband, Dick, who was a great husband, father and grandfather, her family and many wonderful friends. The highlight of her life was watching her children and grandchildren partake in all of their sporting activities and extra circular events.
Elly was a member of Memorial Christian Church where she was a deacon for many years. She was very involved in the Thomas Jefferson, Earl Hanson and Rocky Booster Clubs for many years.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Richard Allison, Rock Island; children, Lisa (Frank) Hanson, Craig (Kathi) Allison, Lori (Craig) Carstens, Jamie (Mindi) Allison and Chris (Lori) Allison, all of Rock Island; grandchildren, Ryan (AJ) Allison, Tyler (Hannah) Allison, Colin Carstens, Kyle (Kaitlyn Knary) Carstens, Charlie and Emily Allison, Brooke (Michael) Budka and Bailey and Isabella Allison; great-grandchildren, Brynlee and Bodee Allison, Teagan Allison and Easton Budka; and siblings, Neva King, Ga., Carol Crowell, Calif. and Frances Brown, Rock Island.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Penny Flynn and brother, John Kish.
