IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Elinor "Jeanie"
Mourning
June 15, 1936 – November 18, 2025
Elinor "Jeanie" Mourning, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, surrounded by her loving family and caring staff at Bickford of Moline.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, November 28, 2025, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. A visitation will be held one hour prior at the funeral home from 10:00am to 11:00am. Jeanie will be buried with her husband, Kenneth, at Calvary Cemetery in Rock Island. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice.
Jeanie was born on June 15, 1936, in Rock Island, IL, the daughter of Walter and Doris Nugent. She grew up in Rock Island, graduating from Alleman High School class of 1954. On June 19, 1954, four days after her 18th birthday, Jeanie married Kenneth Mourning. Together they built a life full of love and cherished memories. They raised four children, 3 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, who will be forever grateful for their love and support. They were married for 64 years until Kenneth's passing in 2019.
Jeanie and Kenneth loved going to Las Vegas and Laughlin, and their extended stays in Arizona with their daughter and son-in-law. Jeanie was a devoted and loving stay at home mom until her kids were raised. She then got a job and worked until she was 62 years old.
Jeanie spent the last four years of her life at Bickford of Moline with a wonderful, loving, and caring staff, the family is forever grateful for. The family would also like to express their gratefulness to Heartland Hospice for their love and support.
Those left to cherish Jeanie's memory are her children and their spouses, Steve, Vicky and Ted, Chris and Dave, and Ken and Diana; her loving and devoted nieces, Randi, Ricki, and Leslie, who were always there for her; 3 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. She peacefully joins her husband Kenneth in Heaven, where their love story continues.
"Give Dad a hug for us."
