Eva “Punkin” M. Porter, 77, of Rock Island, died Saturday, August 28, 2021, at UnityPoint Health-Trinity, Rock Island. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, September 3, 2021 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, September 2, 2021 at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the Quad City Animal Welfare Center.
Eva was born on September 13, 1943, in Rock Island, a daughter of Jesus and Natalie (Garcia) Tamayo. She graduated from Alleman Catholic High School in 1962 and married Gerald Porter on July 24, 1965 in Davenport. Eva was formerly a spot welder at Long’s Manufacturing and later a homemaker. She was an avid shopper and enjoyed watching QVC. Eva also liked watching movies, reading, and spending time with her grand dogs.
Those left to cherish Eva’s memory include her husband, Gerald; daughter, Cinnamon (Patrick) Moore, Coal Valley; son, Troy Porter, Rock Island; siblings, Olivia (Mike) Devlin, Davenport, Elizabeth Midey, Davenport, Gloria Groom, Moline, Raul “Cassie” Tamayo, Coal Valley, and James (Ricky) Tamayo, Saugerties, New York; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
Eva was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Rochelle Likeness and Joseph Tamayo.
