Frank was born in Rochester, New York on February 3, 1936, a son of William Robert and Aleta Elva Chapman Robinson.  He married Joan Kieso on December 26, 1959, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Aurora, Illinois.  She preceded him in death on August 12, 2020.

Frank earned his undergraduate degree from Aurora College and his Master’s degree from the University of Illinois.  He was a U.S. Army veteran who served from 1959 to 1961.

Frank was a biology teacher in the Rock Island/Milan School District No. 41 for 30 years.

Frank attended Two Rivers United Methodist Church in Rock Island where he sang in the choir, played bells, taught Sunday school and volunteered at the meal site for 20 years.  He enjoyed volunteering his time at the Quad City Botanical Center as well as Black Hawk State Park where he led many birdwatching expeditions.  Frank loved canoeing, birdwatching, wood carving, and traveling abroad.  Frank and Joan traveled to twelve countries together.  He was also an avid golfer and gardener and enjoyed spending any free time he had outdoors.  Frank cherished time spent with his granddaughters more than anything, was a dear friend to many and lived a life of service to others.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Karin Joan (Dennis) Weigel, Alexandria, Minn. and Thomas Lee Robinson, Rock Island, Ill.; and grandchildren, Sydney Suzanne Weigel, Kaylee Marie Weigel, McKenzie Karin Weigel and Chelsey Denae Weigel.
