Gary Eugene Krueger, 85, of Illinois City, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 6, 2025, at his home with his loved ones at his side.

Private graveside services will be held on Saturday at the Illinois City Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5 pm to 7 pm at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan, where a Masonic service will be conducted at 7 pm. Memorials may be made to the Andalusia Ambulance Service or to the Buffalo Prairie Masonic Lodge No. 679 A.F. & A.M., where he was a member.

Gary was born on May 7, 1939, in Muscatine, the son of Oscar and Mildred (McGinnis) Krueger. He was united in marriage to Shirley Nichols in Iowa City on August 24, 1957. She preceded him in death on November 25, 1988. Gary later married Sara Fowler on April 30, 1994, in Illinois City.

Gary was a 1957 graduate of Reynolds High School. After High school, he worked for JI Case in Rock Island before retiring from Alcoa in 1994.

Gary enjoyed his fishing trips to Chetek, Wisconsin, motorcycle rides, the casinos, and most importantly, time spent with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Sara; children, Connie (Terry I) Peterson, Donald (Michelle) Krueger, Roger (Randal) Krueger; grandchildren, Terry Peterson II (Tiana Best), Justin (Rachel) Peterson, Melissa (Steve) Woeckener, and Jennifer (Ben) Kay; great grandchildren, Liam, Lillian, Leila, Jacob, and Bailey; and a brother, Marlin Krueger; stepchildren, Lori Jarrett, Steve Fowler, and Judy Fowler.
