Gary J. Omilak, 72, of Rock Island, passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at his home, with his wife at his side. A Celebration of Life service for Gary will be held at a later date. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island is assisting the family. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Rock Island County Humane Society or to the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
Gary was born on October 20, 1950, in Rock Island, a son of James and Marie (Posateri) Omilak. He married Rosie Votava on January 4, 1975, in Grafton, North Dakota. Gary worked in Surveillance/Security at the Rhythm City Casino, Davenport. He was a member of the NRA and the Milan Rifle Club. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, canning and trips to the gulf coast, especially to Biloxi, Mississippi. Gary was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Rosie; sister-in-law, Diane (Bob) Almen, Grafton, N.D.; brothers-in-law, Allan (Sue) Votava and Mark Votava, both of Grafton, N.D.; many cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives; special friends, John and Doree, and Tom and Rhonda, who brought much love, comfort and support.
