Gladys L. Lundquist, 88 of Eldridge, Iowa passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2022. Gladys was born November 25, 1933 in Cedar Falls, Iowa daughter of James and Ingry Assink. She graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1951. Following graduation, she was employed at Iowa State Teachers College (UNI) in the Science Department serving as secretary to the head of the department.

Gladys married Jim Lundquist on August 21, 1954 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls, Iowa, and in 1956 they moved to Mt. Vernon, Iowa. Together they raised three daughters.

Always known for her smile, she was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, had a wide social circle of friends and was always up for a game or a challenge. Hobbies included travel, sewing, golf and card clubs.

Having enjoyed 66 years of marriage, she was a devoted wife and mother. She loved her family and her friends and played a loving and influential role in the lives of her children and grandchildren along with teaching: “there is a place for everything and everything in its place.”

Those left to cherish her memory include daughters, Linda (Robert “Pete”) Auliff, Walcott, Iowa and Lisa (Matthew) Colesworthy, Sun Valley, Idaho; son-in-law Dr. Robert Pollet, Newtown, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Danielle Pollet, West Chester, Pennsylvania, Andrew (Nicole) Petersen, Bondurant, Iowa and Kelly (Kyle) Fenimore, Pleasant Hill, Iowa; great grandchildren Brenna and Silas Petersen and Hudson Fenimore; many step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; sister, Lola (Dr. Robert) Galiher, Manchester, Iowa; sister-in-law Evelyn Cherry (Frank Herring), Strawberry Plains, Tennessee and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving family members and friends.
