Gonzalo J. Duran , 69, of Rock Island, IL, passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at UnityPoint-Trinity, Rock Island.

A live-streamed service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 8, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Avenue, Rock Island, and may be viewed at wheelanpressly.com/live-stream-Rock Island. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island. A rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. Monday, February 7, at the funeral home, with visitation following from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Gonzalo was born September 20, 1952 in Magdalena, Gto., Mexico, a son of Jesus and Antonia Juarez Duran. Gonzalo and Gertrude "Trudy" Mueller were married on January 25, 1975 in Andalusia, Ill. She preceded him in death on October 4, 2020.

Gonzalo was employed at Oscar Mayer for 30 years. He most recently worked at the Putnam Museum.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rock Island. His favorite times were those spent with friends, family & his beloved dog "Grant". He will be lovingly remembered as a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed watching Chicago Cubs baseball, football and boxing.

Surviving are his children, Ralisa (Ron) Stack, Coal Valley, IL, Nicolas (Alexjandra) Duran, Moline, IL, and Andria (Ken) Ellul, Virginia Beach, VA; grandchildren, Adriana, Aliyah, Alexis, Isaiah, Roman, Mia, Noah and Olivia; siblings, Ma. Luz Duran Juarez  ,Adelita Duran Juarez, Ma. Concepcion Duran Juarez, Cristina Duran Juarez and Ernesto Duran Juarez; numerous nieces, nephews, their families and many friends.

Gonzalo was preceded in death by his wife, Trudy; parents, Jesus and Antonia; and siblings, Ma. Isabel Duran Juarez, Ignacio Duran Juarez, Ma. Elena Duran Juarez.
