Irita DeCrane Obituary

Irita I. DeCrane, 67, of Moline, passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. A memorial visitation will be Friday, December 9th from 4 pm to 7 pm at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 – 7th Avenue, Rock Island. Private inurnment will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Irita was born on July 10, 1955, in Kirn, Germany, a daughter of Gunter and Inge (Augner) Fischer. She married Thomas DeCrane on February 14, 1975, in Rhaunen Germany. He preceded her in death on July 21, 2022. Irita was the owner/operator of Beaks N Barks Pet Grooming for 16 years, retiring in 2014. She was a member of the Sussex Spaniel Club. Irita raised Sussex Spaniels and traveled with her dogs to compete in different dog shows throughout the Midwest. She enjoyed doing crafts, cross stitching, basket weaving, wheat weaving, cooking, and spending time with her family. Irita was a avid fan of “Lord of the Rings”.

Survivors include her children, Samantha (Jeremiah) DeCrane Kaha, Moline, and Elisabeth DeCrane, Moline; her sister, Petra Gillespie, Moline; a half-sister, Lisa Riddle, South Carolina; nieces and nephews, Jessica Gandert, Monica Smith, Shaun Gillespie, and Jason Gillespie.

Irita was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Thomas.
