Jacqueline Rose Nesseler

Seventy years of marriage is remarkable, if not magical. Jackie and Bill Nesseler celebrated 64 of those years together before Bill passed away in 2016. That made Aug. 3, 2022 that special, true-love story anniversary date.

As it turns out, they will have a heavenly celebration of their 70th. Jackie passed away Thursday, Aug. 11, 2022 at the age of 90.

Visitation will be Sunday, August 14th from 1-3pm, followed by a memorial service at 3pm at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island.

Jacqueline Rose Boetje was born May 30, 1932, at Moline Lutheran Hospital. She graduated from Rock Island High School in 1950.

She met Billy, the love of her life, at Douglas Park in Rock Island, where he hopped a fence to meet her. It was love at first sight. They were married in Aug. 3, 1952, while Bill was in the service.

Their storybook love included five children, all “M”s: Mike, Marc, Molly, Mindy, and Mary. Jackie was the biggest cheerleader of each, no matter which sport, life occupation, and direction each took. She preached positive thinking, comforting words, and an understanding based on her Christian beliefs. She was a stay-at-home mom which included very little staying at home, as she was always away cheering someone on.

She and Bill lived in Rock Island throughout until Bill’s health required them to move to Park Vista in East Moline, where she comforted Bill in his last years of life. Jackie was a vibrant, constant smile at Park Vista until she was hospitalized just days before her passing.

Also awaiting Jackie with a heavenly greeting will be her oldest daughter Molly Jo DeMink, sister Judy Knudsen, grandchildren Willie and Olivia, as well her parents Charlie and Kathryn Boetje of Boetje mustard and salad business fame.

Surviving are sons Mike (Debbie) Nesseler, Rock Island; Marc (Kathleen) Nesseler, Rock Island; and daughters Mindy (Kristi Mindrup) Diaz, Rock Island, and Mary (Robert) Israelite, Skokie, Ill.; sisters Joyce Corwin (California); Joann Dale (Huntley, IL) and Janet Miller (Milan, IL); 14 grandchildren: Kimberlee, Kristi, Katie, Courtney, Kelsey, Brett, Nikki, Danielle, Taylor, Christian, Nick, Alex, Alina, and Sam, as well as 10 great-grandchildren.
