Obituary

James "Emmett" Shradar, 79, of Naperville, Ill., formerly of Coyne Center, died Friday, August 20, 2021 at home.  Funeral services will be 10:00 am Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 E. 4th Avenue, Milan, Ill.  Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.  Inurnment will be private at Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, where military honors will be presented.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in care of the American Cancer Society.

Emmett was born in Thayer, Iowa on September 29, 1941, a son of Carl and Cleo Brock Shradar.  Upon graduating high school, Emmett served in the U.S. Marine Corps where he was honorably discharged as a Corporal.  He married Carla Schutte on August 29, 1964 at the Milan Presbyterian Church, Milan.

Emmett worked 30 years for John Deere and retired in 1994.  He also spent 40 plus years as a Coyne Center Volunteer Fireman.  He served as assistant fire chief, fire chief and trustee during his time with the fire department.

Emmett was a member of the Knights of Pythian and the UAW.  He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal's fan.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Carla Shradar, Naperville; daughter and son-in-law, Anita (Mike) Liskey; grandsons, Connor and Evan Liskey; sister, Barb Osterhagen; brothers-in-law, William (Donna) Schutte and William Brown; sisters-in-law, Carol Shradar and Auga Rita Shradar; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Dolores Fox and Dorothy Clason, brothers, David, Dean, Bill, Gene and Charles Shradar and sister-in-law, Connie Brown.
