Jerry L. Hough

Jerry L. Hough, 78, of Rock Island, passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at home with his family by his side.

Jerry was born on December 18, 1942 in Moline, a son of the late Leland and Jennie (Schulze) Hough. He proudly served his country as a U.S. Marine and in 1965 married Cindy Kraushaar in Jacksonville, Illinois. Jerry earned a Bachelor of Science in Horticulture and was fortunate to put his education to work throughout his career, working for the U.S. Army for 20 years at the R.I. Arsenal and 10 years in Heidelberg, Germany with U.S. Army Headquarters Europe. Jerry was an avid gardener and loved to plan his garden each year, tend to his plants in his greenhouse, and share his knowledge with whoever wanted to listen. Jerry became a great cook and loved to prepare meals for his family to enjoy. Many will remember Jerry walking with his St. Bernard Daisy. He enjoyed his family and loved to hear of the adventures and achievements of his children and grandchildren.

Those left to cherish Jerry’s memory include his wife, Cindy; children, Chad (Dawn) Hough, Indianapolis, Indiana; Alison (Trent) Morrell, Cheyenne, Wyoming; Katherine (Alec) Hough, Fort Collins, Colorado; grandchildren, Sydney, Race, Sawyer, Christopher, Connor, and Lily; and brother, Mark (Carol) Hough, Rock Island.

A memorial service will be held at a later date with inurnment in Rock Island National Cemetery. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in care of the family through Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home for the wonderful providers who delivered needed supplies and engaged Jerry in conversation each day of their visits.
