Joan Ann (Nicholson) Baril

Joan Ann Baril, 62, of Davenport, died Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at home surrounded by family.  Per her wishes, cremation rites were accorded.  A memorial visitation will be from 4-7 pm Monday, August 22, 2022 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 2136 N. Brady St., Davenport, Iowa.  A memorial service will be 10:30 am Tuesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Davenport.  Inurnment will take place at the St. Paul Lutheran Church Memorial Garden.  Memorials may be made in care of St. Paul Lutheran Church.  Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island, is assisting the family.

Joan was born in East Moline, Illinois on June 23, 1960, a daughter of Donavon and Caroline Johnson Nicholson.  She received her undergraduate degree from Augustana College, Rock Island and her graduate degree from Marquette University, Milwaukee, WI

Joan married Stephen Baril on November 18, 1995 at Augustana College in Rock Island.  Joan was a professor at Western Illinois University, she had worked with IBM, The Sedona Group and The Figge Art Museum.

Joan was member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Davenport. 

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Stephen Baril, Davenport; children, Peter D. Baril, East Moline and Mary Elizabeth Baril, Rock Island; mother, Caroline Nicholson, Davenport, Iowa; and sister-in-law, Monica Nicholson, Rock Island.

She was preceded in death by her father and brother, Gerald P. Nicholson.
