Joean L. Welsh

Joean L. Welsh, 83, of Moline, passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at Aspen Rehab and Health Care. A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Bethel Assembly of God Church, Rock Island. Inurnment will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the family. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island is assisting the family.

Joean was born on May 21, 1938 in Freeport, Illinois, a daughter of Clarence J. “Joseph” Harnish and Jeanette Fink Harnish. She married Ronald Welsh on May 30, 1959 in Freeport. He preceded her in death on May 7, 2018.

Joean Welsh, loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt and grandmother peacefully went home to be with the Lord on September 14, 2021.  She is now playing music on the most beautiful baby grand for the King of Kings. 

Joean loved people, made friends easily, loved serving others, and was an amazing encourager and friend to many.  

She worked in many capacities to include CNA, managerial positions and sales (she even outsold her husband one year and won a trip to Colorado). 

Joean was a music lover.  She had a beautiful voice, singing and playing piano, especially praise and worship, sharing her talent with many area churches over the years. 

As a young person, she was part of the glee club and they even had their own album of which Joean had a solo singing, “This is My Father’s World.” 

Joean lost her father when she was 5 years old but was so very proud of the fact that he fought in the Battle of the Bulge serving as a proud American and was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart. 

She also enjoyed baking and sharing goodies with family and friends.  

But most of all she loved her family unconditionally, was so proud of her children, and praised them often.  It made her the happiest that all her children love and serve the Lord.

Survivors include her children, Rhonda Larson, Muscatine, Lori (Gary) Russen, Clinton, IA., Michael (Angela) Welsh, Moline, Pamela (Jim) Stanphill, Junction City, KS., Amy Welsh, Silvis; nine grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; a brother, Dennis (Rita) Harnish; and a sister, Melody (Steve) Welsh.
