Johnny B. Bragg

Johnny B. Bragg, 77, Rock Island, IL passed away on Monday, May 8, 2023 at Hope Creek Nursing Home in East Moline, IL. There will be a visitation from 1-2:00 PM with a memorial service following at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Memorials preferred to the family.

Johnny was born on July 31, 1945 to James Earl and Liza (Burrage) Bragg in Louisville, MS. After graduating high school, he moved to the Quad Cities and started his career at Caterpillar. He was employed there until they closed and then worked as a truck driver until his retirement.

Johnny and his wife, Carrie, made their home and raised their children in Rock Island. They loved drag racing and traveled all over to the races. Black Sunday near St. Louis was one of their favorite events to attend. In addition to a love of classic cars and racing, Johnny was a big fan of all other sports as well. He also enjoyed music and dancing.

Johnny is survived by his children, Lisa (Dennis) Butler, John Bragg, Jameison Bragg, Justina Bragg, Aubrey Bragg, Tyler Bragg; grandchildren, Dennis (Bonnie) Butler, Denzel Butler, Dominique Butler, Dalvin Bryant, Savanna Bragg and Alayah Bragg; seven great- grandchildren; siblings, Mary Lou Randolph, Helen (Melvin) Fountain, Wilbert Earl (Annie) Bragg, Rev. Dr. Eddie (Margaret) Bragg, Edward Charles (Sandra) Bragg; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Mary Lee Bragg, Lillie Bell, and Fred Bragg; and a grandson, Vonti Gray.
