Katherine Ann Leaf-Melia, known affectionately as "Nana," passed away peacefully on April 17, 2025, at the age of 73 in Milan, IL. There will be a rosary at 3:30 PM with a visitation following from 4-7:00 PM on Friday, April 25, 2025 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. A service will be held later to celebrate her extraordinary life. The family invites you to honor Katherine.

Born on March 16, 1952, in Rock Island, Illinois, she spent 18 vibrant years soaking up the sunshine in Miami, Florida, before returning to her hometown, where she planted deep roots and lived the remainder of her life. The beloved daughter of John Lannen and Patricia Schenebricker, Katherine was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Patrick Lannen and Nellie Johnson. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her daughter Kristal Norrie; grandchildren Taylor, Harley, Bryce, and Trent Norrie; and her cherished great-grandson Levi Pessein. Her siblings Deborah Bergheger, Donald Lannen, and Michael Lannen also survive her and will carry her memory with them always. Katherine was a powerhouse in everything she did. She brought energy, strength, and heart to her 17 years at Walgreens and her 18 years at Help at Home. Her compassion and grit touched the lives of coworkers, clients, and friends alike. But beyond her professional dedication, Katherine lived life with flair. She had an eye for style—never one to pass up a fabulous purse or the perfect shade of lipstick. Her love of shopping was matched only by her devotion to her family. She was feisty, fierce, fabulous—and unapologetically herself. Though she may have left this world, her bold spirit and unforgettable presence will echo in the hearts of all who knew her.
