Keith O. Mooers, 89, of Sherrard, formerly of Alpha, IL and Bettendorf, IA, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2022 at his home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 17, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan, IL. Burial with military honors presented by Moline American Legion, Post 246, will be at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. A Rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m. Monday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan, with visitation following until 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to Boys Town, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Women’s Choice Center, Bettendorf.
Keith O’Brien Mooers was born April 13, 1933 in Waterloo, Iowa, a son of Sylvester “Lobby” and Agnes O’Brien Mooers. He graduated from Cedar Falls High School, Class of 1951. Keith and Jacquelyn “Jackie” Rae Martin were united in marriage on November 29, 1952 in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
Keith was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was a computer engineer for 33 years for UNIVAC / UNISYS Corp.
He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan. He enjoyed following high school wrestling. He was instrumental in the founding of the Bettendorf Wrestling Club and Bulldog Bi-State wrestling tournament. Other interests included fishing, hunting, and mushrooming.
Surviving are his wife Jackie, of Sherrard; children, Kevin (Judy) Mooers, Lottsburg, VA, Carrie (Victor) Weihler, Sherrard, IL, and Neil Mooers, Delafield, WI; grandchildren, Laura (Denis) Ford, Jeff Mooers, Jamisue (Mike) Plucinski, Stuart Weihler, Andrew (Lexi) Weihler, Kara (Jamey) Meyer, Michelle (Travis) Eddy, Annika (Nathan) Wilson, Kathryn Mooers, and Rachel (Tim) Daniels; fifteen great grandchildren; brother, Jerry (Janice) Mooers; and many nieces, nephews, and other family.
Keith was preceded in death by his grandson, Matthew Mooers; daughter-in-law, Eileen Mooers; parents; and brother, Wayne Mooers.
