Kelley Patrice Salas passed away January 17th after a short but valiant fight against multiple myeloma. She was born January 5, 1958 in Omaha, NE. Her family moved to the Quad-City area in 1969. Kelley attended Alleman High School, Rockridge High School, and graduated from Rock Island High School in 1976.
Kelley joined the United States Navy in 1980 and spent most of her time on Midway Island. After leaving the Navy, she married Ruben Salas and lived in San Diego. She welcomed her only child, Cassandra, in 1982.
In 1989 Kelley and her daughter moved back to Illinois where she has resided since. Kelley loved spending time with her four grandchildren and her dogs Stitch and Ginger. She loved to sit in the sun and drink iced tea.
Kelley lived an adventurous young life, hitchhiking to California several times, going to every Rock & Roll concert she could, and making memories with close friends. Kelley’s sense of humor, love of music, and generosity are aspects that will be missed the most.
Kelley is survived by her only daughter Cassandra Mikaio (David), four grandchildren, Nevaeh, Sienna, Mya and Mataio, father Jack Stonehouse, sister Tara Stonehouse (Fred Brett), a special aunt, Ruth Nielsen, and many cousins and friends whom she loved. Proceeded in death by her mother, Mary Frances Stonehouse, grandparents Felix and Mary Kerres and Robert and Frances Stonehouse, and best friend, Robin Reynolds.
Public visitation will be at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan, from 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm on Saturday, January 22, 2022, with a memorial service to follow at 4 pm. A reception with be held after the service at Luli’s Restaurant in Milan. Family is asking that all in attendance please wear masks.
