Laurence “Larry” G. Hoffeditz, 89, of Taylor Ridge, IL, passed away Monday January 4, 2021 at home.
A graveside service and inurnment will be held at a later date at Andalusia Cemetery, Andalusia, IL. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan, is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made to Reynolds United Methodist Church, Reynolds, IL or River Bend Foodbank, Davenport, IA.
Larry was born January 22, 1931 in Burlington, Iowa, a son of Laurence A. and Florence (Sodergren) Hoffeditz. He married Marian Amidon on May 31, 1953 in Milan, IL. She preceded him in death on March 17, 2004.
Larry was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a press operator with the Rock Island Argus/Moline Dispatch for 33 years, and with Bawden Printing for seven years. He retired in 1993.
Larry was a member of Reynolds United Methodist Church, and member and past commander of Reynolds American Legion Post 1166. Larry’s happy place was Chetek, Wisconsin where he fished for the past 50+ years with family and friends.
Surviving are his children, Vicki Terronez (Russ Royce), Cedar Rapids, Iowa, David Hoffeditz, Taylor Ridge, who also was Larry’s caregiver for many years, Daniel (Patty) Hoffeditz, Rock Island, Tom (Julie Guiney) Hoffeditz, Island Lake, IL, Laurie (Jose) Lao, Rock Island, and Paul (Beth) Hoffeditz, Englewood, FL; twelve grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and two great-great grandsons; sister, Mary Havenhill, Burlington, IA; and several nieces, nephews, and other family.
Larry was preceded in death by his wife; parents; brother, John Hoffeditz; and sister, Jean Logan.
