Leonard Serrano

Leonard Serrano, 66, Rock Island, died Thursday, August, 4, 2022 at UnityPoint Health – Trinity, Rock Island.  Funeral services will be 10:30 am Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island.  Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Monday, August 8, 2022 at the funeral home.  Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island.  Memorials may be made in care of the Rock Island High School Girls Softball Program.

Leonard was born in Davenport, Iowa on March 14, 1956, a son of Ceaser and Margaret George Serrano.  He married Pamela Mason in October of 1985 with whom he had three children, Amanda, Ceaser and Jessica.  They later divorced.  He married Dianna Hendley on November 10, 1990 at Camp Joy in Dixon, Illinois.

Leonard worked 38 plus years for the City of Rock Island.  He held many positions over his tenure and retired as a crew leader in 2013.

Leonard enjoyed following his kids in their sports and participating and coaching whenever possible.  He also enjoyed playing Euchre, building model cars, listening to music and playing the lottery.  He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.  Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Dianna Serrano, Rock Island; children, Amanda (Chris) Timper, Davenport, Ceaser Serrano, Rock Island, Jessica (Tyler) Byrd, Davenport, Ayla (Jared) Zueck, Chatham, Ill., Leanna Serrano, Moline and Amalia Serrano, Rock Island; grandchildren, “King” George, Brice, Beau, Devin, Jeret and Julien; and brothers, Mark Serrano, Rock Island and Tomás Serrano, Syracuse, NY.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, David Serrano and sister, Maria Serrano-Housley.
