Lila L. (Schroeder) Harbarger

Lila L. Harbarger, 91, of Reynolds, died Monday, April 25, 2022 at the home of her daughter, Jeanne, where she went home to be with her Lord and Savior.  A funeral service will be 2 pm Friday, April 29, 2022 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 E. 4th Avenue, Milan.  Visitation will be from 1-2 pm Friday at the funeral home.  Burial will take place at Reynolds Cemetery.  Memorials may be made in care of the Reynolds Volunteer Fire Department or the QC Animal Welfare Center, Milan.

Lila was born in Rock Island, Illinois on September 1, 1930, the daughter of Walter and Ethel VanTine Schroeder.  She attended Rock Island High School before transferring to Sherrard High School where she graduated valedictorian.  Lila married William E. Harbarger on February 19, 1949 in Rock Island.  He preceded her in death on July 11, 2006.

After staying home with her young children, she joined the work force at Deere and Company, retiring in 1984 as an administrative assistant in the finance department.

Lila was a member of DAR (Daughters of American Revolution).  She enjoyed sewing, painting, photography and most of all, spending time with her family.  She was humble and kind and had a smile for everyone that she met.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Gail Kohlmeier, Waterloo, Ill., Jeanne (Stephen) Carlson, Reynolds, Vicki (Mark) Allen, Reynolds and Susan (Shawn) Meguffy, Reynolds; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild on the way; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, twin brothers, Harold and Howard Schroeder and younger brother, Wayne Schroeder.
