Linda Eloise Perkins

Linda Eloise Perkins, 78, of Rock Island passed away Sunday, April 24, 2022 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Friday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave Rock Island. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made in care of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or River City Church.

Linda was born on December 1, 1943 in Moline, a daughter of Lester and Alice (Pilcher) Hoefle. She graduated from Rock Island High School in 1961. Linda married Dewayne Perkins on May 16, 1964 in Milan. She worked as a secretary for many different companies over the years, including Modern Woodmen, Bituminous Insurance Company, John Deere, the Milan Methodist Church, and River City Church. She also served as a Sunday school third-grade teacher. Her hobbies included reading, sewing, quilting, and writing poems. As a young woman, she was a member of The International Order of The Rainbow for Girls. Linda was also a member of River City Church, Milan.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Dewayne; son, John Perkins; sister, Elizabeth “Betty Anne” Schierling; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Carolyn Mueller.
