Mark A. Jasper, 64, of Davenport, formerly of Rock Isand, passed away Saturday January 7, 2017 at his home.

Services will be 8:00 a.m. Monday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island. Burial, with  military honors presented by Vietnam Veterans of America , Chapter 299, will be at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family to be designated later.

Mark was born October 13, 1952 in Rock Island, a son of Malvern and Frances Reinhart Jasper. He graduated from Alleman High School in 1970. Following high school, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps in Vietnam. Following his service in the Marines, he later served in the U.S. Navy Reserves.

Mark was married to Debbie Schaecher for many years, and from this union has a daughter, Andrea and a son, Aaron. He loved his family and will be fondly remembered as a loving father and grandfather.

He was a firefighter for the city of Davenport from 1994 until his retirement in 2011. Mark enjoyed spending time outdoors, collecting antiques and oriental art. He loved caring for his dogs and volunteered at area animal shelters.

Surviving are his daughter, Andrea Jasper, Rock Island; son and daughter-in-law, Aaron and Christy Jasper, Tuscaloosa, AL; grandchildren, Emma, Brooklyn and Brody Jasper; mother, Frances Jasper, Rock Island; sisters, Beth (Rick) Ater and Kathy Jasper, all of Rock Island; sister-in-law, Vicki Jasper, Milan; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family.

Mark was preceded in death by his father and two brothers, Greg and Brian Jasper.
