Mark A. Mueller, 61, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday; February 19, 2019 at his home in Phoenix, AZ. A graveside service will be Monday; April 22, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Taylor Ridge. Prior to the service, visitation will be from 8:30 -9:30 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church Parish Hall; 18121 134th Avenue W.; Taylor Ridge, Illinois. Memorials may be given to any domestic abuse victims program or a charity of your choice. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan, is assisting the family.
Mark was born on September 9, 1957, the second child of Wayne and Lurae (Paridon) Mueller. He graduated from Taylor Ridge High School and attended Western Illinois University.
Mark worked as a chef at several fine restaurants in Kauai, Hawaii; Pasedena and Glendale, California; St. John, Virgin Islands; and Albuqerque, NM. He worked as the sous chef at the Villa Campione in Rock Island, IL. For a time, Mark operated the Country Inn Restaurant in Edgington, IL. Mark was especially known for his delicious baked goods and his sauerkraut. In Phoenix, Mark worked as an installer and repairman for commercial warewashing systems and was most recently a contract delivery driver.
Mark’s passions were cooking and more recently rifle shooting. He was an active member of The Arizona Schuetzenverein. He assisted others in learning how to shoot and enjoyed volunteering with The Phoenix Rod and Gun Club Youth Shooting Program.
He is survived by his mother Lurae, brother Barry (Sue), nephew Bryan (Susie) all of Postville, IA and nephew Jason of St. Kilda, Victoria, Australia.
Mark was preceded in death by his father.
