Obituary

Mary Ann McManus, 80, of Taylor Ridge, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2025 at MercyOne Genesis Davenport Medical Center.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Andalusia. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Monday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan, with a rosary to be recited at 3:30 pm. Burial will be in Edgington Cemetery. Memorials may be made in care of the Rockridge School District or St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

Mary Ann was born on August 13, 1944 in Aledo, IL, a daughter of Raymond and Allyne (Taylor) Dillie. She married Michael B. McManus on September 10, 1960 at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Aledo and he preceded her in death on November 2, 2019. Mary Ann attended Aledo Public Schools and later went on to graduate from the Beauty Academy of Moline. She was a beautician for 15 years, while also being employed by the Rockridge School district for over 35 years. She worked as both a school bus driver and a cashier in the lunchroom.

Mary Ann was strong in her faith and a devoted member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Andalusia, where she was a member of the choir and many church organizations. She enjoyed her  time volunteering with Pathways Hospice.

Mary Ann's hobbies included dancing, skiing, bingo, dominos and card club. Her greatest joy came from spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. She was often found in the stands at all of her grandchildren's events.

Mary Ann wants very much to be remembered as a woman who loved her family with all her heart and tried to do what was right and fair. She could be tough, head strong and selfish sometimes, but she always meant well. She hopes people will remember her as a good friend with heart. She very much wanted to help people in some way if she could. If given the opportunity, Mary Ann would do it all over again!

Those left to cherish Mary Ann's memory include her children, Julie (Gary) Seaba, Theresa (Dan) Frere, Jeff (Tammy) McManus, Tim (Mindy) McManus and Greg (Julie) McManus; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren with one more on the way; sisters, Vickie Dillie (Mary), Lorrie Minear-Shaffer (Bob) and Sherrie Rentfro; and special friend, Don Greer.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband; parents; granddaughter, Brittany Seaba; maternal and paternal grandparents; and brother-in-law, Jeff Rentfro.
