Michael A. Swanson

 Michael A. Swanson, son of Hiram L. Swanson and Rose M. (Golick) Swanson died at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, Iowa on February 18, 2021.

 Michael, born in 1941, graduated from Rock Island High School in 1959 where he played football. He served in the U.S. Army as a Military Policeman in Vietnam after high school, then graduated from St. Ambrose College in 1967 with a degree in Physical Education. He retired from JI Case. Michael was active in Rock Island High School sports, running chains for football and judge track and field events.

 A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 24 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island, with visitation at the church one hour prior to services. Burial in Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island is assisting with arrangements.

 Michael was preceded in death by his parents and a still born sister. Memorials may be made to St. Piux X Catholic Church, Rock Island or to the Rock Island-Milan Education Foundation.
