Nancy (DePaepe) Ballinger, 90, of Rock Island, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2024, at UnityPoint Health-Trinity, Rock Island. A memorial visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Avenue, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital or to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Nancy was born February 18, 1933, the fourth of ten children born to Art and Mamie (Brennan) DePaepe. She married Dick Ballinger on December 1, 1951. Nancy and Dick had five children.

Nancy previously worked at Servus Rubber for many years and in 1982, she began babysitting in her home. Throughout 30 years she mentored numerous lives as a grandmother figure.

Nancy was an avid bowler, participating in many leagues at Town and Country Bowling Lanes.

Mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and nan were her proudest titles. Her love and support will be sincerely missed.

Nancy is survived by her husband of 72 years, Dick; three children, Vickie Sparks, Lori (Douglas) Thomer, and Rich (Bridgette) Ballinger Jr.; eleven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and sister, Linda.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; son, Michael Ballinger; daughter, Debra Gimm; and siblings, Tommy, Gerry, Shirley, Bev, Donald, Robert, Jackie, and Dale.
