Nancy Lea Sly, 70, of Milan, Illinois, passed away at her home Thursday, February 9, 2023. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, February 17, 2023, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 E. 4th Avenue, Milan, Illinois. Visitation will be held one-hour prior to the service from 2 to 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Private burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery, located in Des Moines, Iowa.

Nancy was born July 13, 1952, in Des Moines, Iowa to Myron and Evelyn (Hulbert) Newell. She graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in Des Moines.

Nancy worked several years in the bulk mailing industry. She also worked at Walmart for a few years. Above all, Nancy loved her boys and grandchildren. She enjoyed watching them over the years as they grew. They would play outside and bake cookies together. She enjoyed crafts and going to the Covered Bridge Festival in Winterset with her sisters. She also liked watching football and NASCAR.

Those left to cherish Nancy's memory include her sons, Kirk (Casey) and Sean Sly; grandchildren, Austin, Haylea, Colby, Corbin, Kinzley, Kade, and Abigale; sister, Yvonne Lloyd; and several nieces and nephews that she adored.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; son, Chad Pitts; sister, Bonita Crase; nephew, Bil Graham; and great-nephew, Brenden Wiyrick.
