Ola Idell Hicks, 83, of Rock Island, died Saturday, August 6, 2016 at her home.  Cremation rites were accorded.  A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Monday, August 15, 2016 at the Second Baptist Church, Rock Island.  Burial will be private at Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island.  Memorials may be made in care of the family.

Ola was born in Fulton, Ky. on June 28, 1933, a daughter of Leonard Sr. and Charlie B. Kennedy Hilliard.  She married Bennie Hicks Sr. in Chicago in 1961.  He preceded her in death on Aug. 3, 1998.

Ola enjoyed cooking, ceramics and flowers.

Survivors include her children, Bennie Hicks Jr., Paulette Hicks and Daryll Hicks, all of Rock Island; 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Ruthie Morris, South Fulton, Tenn.; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; and special friends, Argolda Shelton, Annie Mae Burnett, Erma Jean Carroll and Shirley Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
