Rhoda Frank Obituary

Rhoda Jean Frank, 90, of Rock Island, died on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at UPH-Trinity Rock Island.

Rhoda was born on October 5, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Charles and Mable (Siegert) Braun. She had four other siblings. She met the love of her life, Robert Frank at Wayne State University in Detroit. They were married September 29,1951. They moved to Rock Island in 1964 in order for Robert to teach at Augustana college.

Rhoda loved her Creator God and expressed her faith in her art, her actions, the faith discussions, and her prayers for many.

Rhoda was a very gifted artist, working in many different mediums. She also was a genealogist for her family and did extensive research. She had a passion for nature and wildlife and her home reflected that. She loved to travel as well. She was a very active member of St. James Lutheran Church, Rock Island and a major leader in WELCA. Both she and her spouse were one of the original founders of our local Living Water Via De Cristo spiritual renewal movement. They also enjoyed United Marriage Encounter as well as other organizations with Augustana.

Rhoda most of all, loved her family. She enjoyed being a part of their many activities. She loved to create beautiful family gatherings and was a “gracious hostess”. Her Christmas eve dinners most of all will never be forgotten. Bob and Rhoda had a beautiful marriage and truly were “Christs team”.

Rhoda is survived by her husband, Robert Frank; daughters, Rebecca Frank, Renee (Robert) Wade; and Rhea Frank-Cottingham; grandchildren Brandon (Jen) Wade, Chelsea (Jason) Guerin, Joshua Schroeder, Sara (Dustin) Schroeder; Jeremiah (Morgan) Schroeder, Bethany (Derek) Weipert; and Christian Cottingham; great grandchildren, Foster Wade, Davin Wade, Delaney Guerin, Meadow Weipert, Josiah Schroeder and Winona Lucus, brother Neal Braun, and her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Vincent  Braun, Wanda Mayln and Noel Braun; and her son-in-law Jeffery Cottingham.

Per her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and a Celebration of Life service will be held at a later time.
