Robert G. DeBo, 93, of Rock Island, passed away Thursday March 7, 2024 at his home, surrounded by his family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am, Thursday March 14, 2024 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 pm Wednesday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island, with a rosary recited at 3:30 pm. Entombment will be in Calvary Mausoleum, Rock Island. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Pius Church for masses to be said in Roberts name or the American Cancer Society.
Robert was born on July 19, 1930 in East Moline, the son of George and Mary (Leenknecht) DeBo. He was a United States Army Veteran having served during the Korean War. Robert married Anna Marie Schebler on July 31, 1954 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Davenport.
Mr. DeBo had been employed at IH Farmall, Rock Island as Chief Tool Designer for over 37 years, retiring in 1986. He later worked at Rock Island Arsenal for 5 years, retiring in 1992. Following his retirement, Robert devoted himself to volunteering and yard work at St. Pius Church.
Robert was a Charter member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island, where he served as a trustee and Eucharistic Minister. Robert received the Pere Marquette Award for 50 years of service with St. Pius Church. He was also a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters Court 2284, Friends Circle Club and IH Farmall Retirement Club.
He loved spending time with his family, playing cards, Rollie-Bollie, golfing and bowling.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Anna Marie; children, Diane VanderVennet, Linda (Scott) Jones, Deborah (Craig) Dentlinger, David (Anita) DeBo; 14 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren; sibling, Albert DeBo; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mary; brothers, Eugene, Donald and George DeBo.
