Rodger O'Kane Obituary

Rodger D. O’Kane, 67, of Rock Island, passed away on Friday, April 15, 2022 at his home. Private inurnment services will be held at the Rock Island National Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted. A celebration of life gathering will be 12:00 p.m. to 3 p.m., on Friday, April 29 at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 1111 W. 35th St., Davenport. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island is assisting the family.  Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Rodger was born on December 17, 1954 in Douglas, Michigan, the son of Ike and Joyce (Hicks) O’Kane. He married Delia Abadilla on June 11, 1977 in Pullman, Michigan. Mr. O’Kane worked for Oscar Mayer, Davenport and retired in 2017. Previously he had retired from the U.S. Navy in 1994 as Chief Gunners Mate/Missiles after 20 years of service. While serving in the Navy he received the Navy Achievement Medal, the Army Commendation Medal and many other decorations for his service. Rodger enjoyed building model cars, cooking, movies, listening to 70’s music and most of all spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Delia; daughter, Cheryl Christenson, Silvis; grandchildren, Lindsay (Tyler) White, Davenport, Alexandria Mumma, Silvis, Jason S. Christenson, Des Moines, Haley Christenson, Silvis; siblings, Patsy (Junior) Ramsey, Douglas O’Kane and Danny O’Kane all of Michigan.

Rodger was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert O’Kane; sister, Kathy Willingham; and a son in law, Jason R. Christenson.
