Steve was born on June 26, 1948, in Davenport, the son of Leo and Margaret (Deke) Duffy.  He married the love of his life, Jacklyn Duffy on May 18, 2009 in Las Vegas, Nevada, and later held a big party for friends and family in Davenport.  Steve was a graduate of Davenport West High School and got his bachelor’s degree from St. Ambrose University, Davenport.  Steve worked for Central High School as an associate teacher for three years.  He then spent 35 years as a claims manager for Alternative Service Concept, a third party claims company.

Steve was always on the go and had many hobbies such as: auto racing, go-kart racing, classic cars, Harley Davidson motorcycles, boating, golfing, and spending time with his grandchildren.  He was a friend to many, especially the kids around his neighborhood.  Seemed like when the garage door was open, the kids flocked to the house to see him and his cars and motorcycles.  He coached youth baseball, “Harlan’s Team” for 25 years and won over 500 games and had 4 undefeated seasons.  Steve also coached football and wrestling, and was an IHSAA official for 15 years.  Steve still has close ties to most of the kids he coached through the years.  Steve will be remembered as being able to talk to anybody, and making new friends everywhere he went.   He cherished the time he spent with his wife Jacky, they loved to travel and go on cruises together.  They went on motorcycle rides, car cruise ins, car shows, and spent time boating on the Mississippi.  Spending time with his grandchildren was very important to him, he taught them how to water ski, coached baseball, shopping for their birthdays, and attending all their events.  He was very proud of them.

Steve was active throughout the community and tried to make a difference everywhere he could.  He was a former president of the Davenport Colt League, Youth Baseball League, and Quad Cities Magic Club.  Steve was the vice-president of the River Valley Classic Car Club and Quad Cities Cruisers.  He was also a member of the Quad Cities Claims Adjusters, Davenport Moose Club, and spent 15 years on the Adler Theater/River Center Board for City of Davenport and the Davenport Park Board.

Steve is survived by his wife, Jacky Duffy; step-children, Michelle (Robert) Blunk, Andy (Coty) Lekin, Adam Lekin, and Sara (Kevin) Kehe; step-grandchildren, Carter, Cameron and Cara Blunk, Harper Lekin, and Daylen and Kinsley Kehe; cousins, Joann Dean, Justin Dean and Lynne Enlow; beloved dog, Copper; and many friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, F.E. and Helen Krause and Leo P. and Regina Duffy; cousin, Donna Helble; and special friend, Don Wachal.
