Susan J. (Miles) Gordon

               Susan J. Gordon, 71, of Rock Island, passed away Friday, April 2, 2021 at her residence. 

                A private family memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at South Park Presbyterian Church, Rock Island.  The service will be available to listen to via FM radio transmitter for those that want to be at the church in the parking lot on channel 89.7.  The family will greet friends after the service in the church parking lot.  Visitation will be from 4-7 pm on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island.  Visitors will be required to wear a mask and practice social distancing.  Memorials may be made to South Park Presbyterian Church, Rock Island.

                Susan was born on January 31, 1950 in Rock Island, the daughter of Henry and Zelma (Lear) Miles.  She married Terry Gordon on October 4, 1969 in Rock Island.  Susan graduated from Rock Island High School class of ’68, and got her associates degree in child development from Black Hawk Community College.  Susan worked as a pre-K teacher at Just Kid’s Early Care, where she touched the lives of countless children and families.  She had a very strong faith and was an active member of South Park Presbyterian Church, teaching Sunday school, serving as a deacon, and being on multiple church boards.  Susan enjoyed traveling, shopping, biking, and participating in water aerobics.  She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. 

                Susan is survived by husband, Terry Gordon, Rock Island; children, Peter (Gen) Gordon, Moline, Amy (Jason) Strandberg, Rock Island, Benjamin (Cassie Briggs) Gordon, Rock Island, and Allyson (Jason) Willits, Bettendorf; grandchildren, Annabelle Gordon, Hanna Gordon, Josh Briggs, Seth Strandberg, Olivia Strandberg, Estella Gordon, Jaxson Willits, Lucas Willits, Cecelia Gordon, James Coats, Jonathan Coats, Kelsea Verschage, and Jacob Anglen; 10 great grandchildren; siblings, Donald (Cecily) Miles, Milan, Janet Day, Moline, William (Pamela) Miles, Moline, Lynn Miles-Dietz (Eric Danielson), Moline, and Lisa Miles (Perry Hultgren), Rock Island; and multiple nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Zelma Miles; mother-in-law and husband, Eilleen and Ralph Druhl, and father-in-law, Sid Gordon.
