Susann (Wilks) Parchert

Susann W. Parchert, 81, of Taylor Ridge, Ill., died Friday, November 18, 2022 at home surrounded by family.  A funeral service will be 10 am Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at Zion Lutheran Church, Taylor Ridge.  Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan.  Burial will be at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Taylor Ridge.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Parchert Music Scholarship or the Dorcas Society of Zion Lutheran Church.

Sue was born in Moline, Illinois on October 20, 1941, the daughter of William and Zella Anderson Wilks.  She married Larry Parchert on August 27, 1961 at Zion Lutheran Church, Taylor Ridge.

Sue worked as a secretary for John Deere Plow Works and then spent 20 years raising her family and babysitting.  She returned to work at The Arc of The QC and then at Augustana College, retiring in 2004.

Sue was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Dorcas Society.  She was extremely passionate about children and volunteered many hours reading with children at Taylor Ridge Elementary School.  She loved supporting and cheering on her grandchildren.  Sue enjoyed flower gardening, baking and sewing many blankets for patients at the kidney dialysis center.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Larry Parchert, Taylor Ridge; children, Lisa (Jeff) Martens, Milan, Ill. and Tom (Carol) Parchert, Illinois City, Ill.; grandchildren, Allyson (Ian) Braun, TJ (Hannah Ballantyne) Martens, Nathan (Kristen VanDeVelde) Parchert, Ryan Parchert and Laikyn Parchert; great-granddaughter, Hadley Braun; and siblings, Nancy Retherford, Aledo, Ill. and Richard (Pam) Wilks, Coal Valley, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Pamela Williams.
