Obituary

Susie (Susanne) Mary (DeKeyrel) Moseley passed away on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at the age of 81 after courageously living with Alzheimer's in recent years.

Born on February 28, 1944, in Moline, Illinois, Susie was the beloved daughter of Adolph and Ruby Hall-DeKeyrel. She attended Seton Catholic Grade School in Moline and graduated from Alleman Catholic High School in 1962. While in high school, she met the love of her life, Leo Francis Moseley. They married on June 1, 1963, and shared 62 years of devotion, partnership, and joy.

Though raised in the city, Susie embraced country life wholeheartedly. For 62 years she was the heart and chief operating officer of their farm—washing sheep, tending to calves and piglets, keeping the books, and raising four children alongside countless cats and a mischievous dog. She worked tirelessly beside Leo, ensuring the farm thrived and their family flourished.

Susie gave generously of her time and talents to her community. She served as a Brownie and Girl Scout leader, a 4-H Group Advisor, and was active in the Homemakers Extension Club. She and Leo were longtime members of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Andalusia, Illinois, where Susie helped with the Ice Cream Social and many other parish events.

Beyond the farm, Susie worked at Von Maur in Moline during the 1980s before opening her own drapery business. Later, she and Leo enjoyed selling goods at the Davenport Farmer's Market and traveling the Midwest with their solid surface cutting board business.

Susie was preceded in death by her parents, Adolph and Ruby Hall-DeKeyrel, her sister, Sally Moseley, and her nephew, Kevin Moseley.

She is survived by her husband, Leo Moseley; brothers Burdette (Barbara) DeKeyrel and Norman DeKeyrel; daughters Janice (Steve) McLaren, Jennifer Moseley, Julianne (Brian) Froehlich; and son Stephen (Stacie) Moseley. Her grandchildren: Erin (David) Carpenter, Rory (Trisha) Conway, Molly Conway, Madeline (Scott) Kornberg, Paxton (Maria) Moreno, Devon (Maggie) Froehlich, Brice (Erika) Froehlich, Arianna (Chris Saley) Froehlich, Carter Moseley, and Christopher Moseley.  She was also blessed with nine great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.

A visitation and prayer service will be held at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 E. 4th Avenue, Milan, IL, 61264, on Saturday, December 20, 2025. Visitation is from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. with the prayer service to follow at 4:00 p.m.

Susie will be remembered for her devotion to family, her tireless work ethic, her faith, and her warm spirit. She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and service that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
