Wanda Ruth Esping, 66, of Rock Island, IL, surrounded by her family, passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa, of complications from a lengthy battle with Interstitial Lung Disease.

Wanda's funeral service will take place at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at First Lutheran Church in Rock Island, with visitation before the service at 10:00 am. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, October 15, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, also in Rock Island. The inurnment will be held in November at Mariadahl Cemetery in Olsburg, Kansas.

Wanda was born on June 24, 1959, in Manhattan, Kansas, to Quinton and Ruth (Bjorling) Esping, as the youngest of three children. She graduated from Kansas State with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1981 and earned a teaching certificate in 1982. Wanda taught elementary school in various districts and tutoring centers, including Sylvan Learning Center and Head Start. She served as the administrative assistant and treasurer for First Lutheran Church in Rock Island for 16 years. Since 2019, she has co-owned Premier Computer Services with Tim Anderson. Wanda dedicated her life to helping others.

Wanda enjoyed reading, traveling, singing in the church choir, folk arts, attending events at Lake Davenport Sailing Club, serving as a board member of the Scandinavian Association, and spending time with friends and family. Wanda was a highly active long-time member of First Lutheran Church. She supported organ donations and was pleased when she was a blood match and able to donate her kidney to save a friend's life.

Those left to cherish Wanda's memory include her devoted partner, Tim Anderson, his children, Ryan Anderson of Rock Island, IL, Matthew Anderson (Mel) of Oklahoma City, OK, and Kristin Stambaugh (Terry) of Moline, IL, and granddaughter, Eryn Stambaugh, to whom she was a loving Godmother. Her extended family includes numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Wesley and Wayne.

Memorials are requested to be sent to First Lutheran Church, Rock Island.
