Bill was born on January 6, 1954 in Rock Island, a son of William and Madlyn (Freeberg) Lenger. He graduated from Alleman High School, where he acquired his amazing math skills that earned him the title of human calculator. Bill was a gear head that loved all motorsports. He was most proud of Pro Stock Drag Racing at the NHRA national level. He restored two ’70 Chevelles and found a love for stock car racing. He started his career at IH Farmall where he met the love of his life, Cindy. They were married 42 years. He always said she was not his wife, she was his life.   After Farmall, he worked at Edwards Construction in Geneseo. Since 1988 Bill also owned and operated Buffalo Trailer Company, where he built custom, quality trailers. He was a life-long Chicago Bears fan. He was looking forward to a new stadium and the Bears next appearance in the Superbowl. His favorite TV show was NCIS, he loved it so much that he even named his beloved dog Leroy Jethro Gibbs. Bill was always “right” and as he said, “I don’t try to be right, it just works out that way!”. Bill was a loyal friend with a heart as big as his Christmas displays.  He always had time for others and a helping hand for any project.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Cindy, Coal Valley; dogs, Jethro and Parker; brothers, Rodney (Wanda) Lenger, Sandford, Florida, and Scott (Cindy) Lenger, Walterboro, SC; brothers-in-law, Thomas (Sandy) Lotz, Forrest, VA, Scott Lotz, Aledo, IL and Dean (Erin) Lotz, Pearl City, IL; nieces and nephews, Phillip Lenger, Andrew Lenger, Ashley (Lewis) Lotz, Jacob (Taylor) Lotz, Stephanie Lotz, Julie (Jake) Lotz, Lisa (Jordan) Parrott, John Thomas “JT” Lotz, Natalie Lotz, and Mackenzie Lotz; great-nephew, Gideon; and many special friends, including his special garage friends, Sue and Steve.

He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Perry and Edna Lotz; and beloved four-legged friends, Stud, Freeway and Telly.
