William “Bill” Duffy died unexpectedly on Monday, May 16, 2022 in a rehab facility, after breaking a hip.
Mr. Duffy was born March 12, 1953 and grew up in south Minneapolis. The past 30 years he lived in Davenport, IA.
While still living in Minneapolis, he enlisted in the Army, completing a 4-year tour in Germany as a Sergeant. Bill worked mainly in the floor covering business. His greatest accomplishment was being a dad to his 6 children and a grandpa to his many grandchildren. He loved NASCAR, Minnesota Vikings football, and music.
The past ten years, Bill and his son Mark lived together. “Best Buddies” caring for one another until Mark’s untimely death in September 2020. He is predeceased by his parents, John and Betty Duffy, son Mark VanHolbeck, grandchildren Danen, Brandee and Heather Callahan, and a sister Laurel Duffy.
Bill is survived by children: Shawna (Jon Elsenpeter) Duffy – Wilson, WI, Alexis (Abdo Abdelrahman) Duffy – Lakewood, WA, Matthew VanHolbeck – Superior, WI, Amanda (Ben) Hodge – Milan, IL, and Amber (Josh) Falls – Chippewa Falls, WI. Siblings: Kathleen Sanjabi, Ann Duffy, Pat Kaster, and Mike Duffy, as well as grandchildren: Aiden, Brenden and Daniel Falls, JaCoby and Dakota Elsenpeter, Adrianna and Brandon Holtam, and Erik Colclasure.
Bill will be buried in Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to a veteran’s organization of your choosing.
