Carolyn N. (Fields) Ferm

Carolyn N. "Carrie" Ferm, 80, of Fairbury, Ill., formerly of Rock Island, died Sunday, June 18, 2017 at home.

A Memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Rock Island.  The family will greet friends in the church fellowship hall following the service.  Private inurnment will be at a later date at the National Cemetery, Arsenal Island.  Memorials may be made to Planned Parenthood; St. John's Lutheran Church in Rock Island, IL; First Presbyterian Church in Fairbury, IL; the American Cancer Society; OSF Hospice (https://osfhealthcarefoundation.org) or your FAVORITE LIBRARY :-)

Carrie was born Sept. 29, 1936 in Grand Haven, Mich., a daughter of Wayne and Mildred Schmidt Fields.  She married Martin E. Ferm on Nov. 23, 1955 in Bay City, Mich.  He died Sept. 10, 2008.

She had worked as a library clerk at Augustana College.

Carrie was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Rock Island.

Survivors include her children, Lorece Ferm Aitken, Madison, WI; Barry Ferm, Rock Island; Jillann Krieger, Fairbury, IL; and Jay B. Ferm, Madison, WI; grandchildren, Joel, Ryan, Leah and Liana Ferm and Dmitri and Aidan Krieger; sister Sally Schmelter, Holland, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Wayne Fields Jr, and sisters Mary Ann Willemsen and Marcia Fields.
