Tony was a wonderful neighbor, there for me when my Dad couldn't be,, always looking after all of us. The neighborhood has never been the same without him and LaVerne. Rest in peace, dear friend, and I'll bake a loaf of Easter bread in your memory. Ellen, Dino, and Jim T.

I am so sorry for your loss and wanted you to know that I am thinking of you during this difficult time. Our Westchester days were made better and happier because of your dad and wonderful neighborhood.

Tony was just the father-in-law my brother Steve needed, was always so welcoming to our whole family, and raised a woman who has been a great blessing to our family and the world. Sending hugs across the miles, Sue.

"If you can't light your pipe with a match on the deck of a battleship at sea," Tony once said to me, "you're not a pipe-smoker."

His respect for good hand tools was one of the things I most admired about Tony. He took delight in cleaning up the fluting tool I inherited from my grandfather. He gave me a beautiful old hand plane and a couple of old wooden levels, which I use but mostly treat like the relics of a saint. He also taught me a great deal about fixing things. Sometimes we'd both be stumped, and then he'd say, "Okay. What and what else?" And then, to my utter amazement, he'd figure it out.

He was a great neighbor and friend. I number him among the best of my unofficial teachers. May he rest in soft peace.

As a recent visitor to the care center where Tony resided I couldn't help but notice his beautifully decorated door and personal touches in his room. It was obvious someone cared very much for him to take the time to make it all look so warm and cheery. Although I did not know Tony or his family, I hope he is sleeping with the angels tonight.
