Otto E. Ehm, 86, of Rock Island, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at UPH-Trinity, Rock Island.
Visitation will be at 10:00am on Thursday April 28, followed by funeral services at 12:00pm - both at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home in Rock Island. Burial will be at the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Memorials may be made to Honor Flights of the Quad Cities.
Otto was born on June 30, 1929, the son Otto and Friederika Ehm. After finishing high school, he enlisted in the Marine Corps. He married Beverly Bayness on June 29, 1950. She passed away on April 2, 1976. He later married LaDema Andrews on August 27, 1977. She passed away on June 18, 1994.
Otto was employed as an Equipment Specialist with the U.S. Army Weapons Command, Rock Island Arsenal, retiring in February 1988 following 38 years of service. He enjoyed golfing, working out at RIFAC, traveling, dancing, reading and attending sporting events of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was also an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan. Otto was a member of the Moline American Legion Post 246, Polka Club of Iowa, Mississippi Valley Country Music Association, and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
Survivors include his son, William (Pam) Ehm, step-daughters Barbara (Bill) Esp, Cheryl (Steve) Osborne, Diane (Jim) Bailey, step grandchildren, Megan (Abe), Matthew, Danielle (Kevin), Derek, Lindsey and Andrew. Grandchildren DeAnna Bush, Angella (Lance) Dieterich, Aaron Ehm, great grandchildren Cheyenne, Cody, and Cierra Bush, Lane, Billie, and Taylor Dieterich, and a special friend Joyce Geiger . Otto was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister Mary Margaret, wives Beverly and LaDema.
