Gail, I am sorry to hear of your great loss. I guess God needed a new flower in his garden and he certainly chose a good one.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Dick's passing. He and I began our careers at the Courthouse in 1969. I had the pleasure of seeing him almost daily for many years. He was a great officer and friend. May he rest in peace.

Kelly, Gail, Jeff and family: News of Dick's death spread quickly and left us in shock and a feeling of deep loss. Dick's presence was so strongly felt in so many circles: the sheriff's department, the building commission, the Democratic Party and, of course, you, his family. Dick brought a calm, confident, comfortable presence where ever he was. It is fitting that he headed the building commission during the building of the courthouse annex. He could build bridges. His passing will be felt so very deeply by countless people who, sadly, took his involvement for granted. Our hearts ache for the loss you are feeling. It just won't be the same seeing you without Dick being at your side. Please accept our sincere sympathy and know that you are being held close in our thoughts and prayers. Peace.
